Ice Cream Coffee

A simple coffee dessert made with vanilla ice cream, hot espresso or strong coffee, and a light chocolate finish.

Total time: 10 minutes

Ingredients

  • 4 scoops good vanilla ice cream
  • 1 cup freshly brewed hot espresso or very strong coffee
  • 1 tsp sugar, optional
  • 2 tbsp whipped cream, optional
  • 1 tbsp shaved dark chocolate or cocoa powder
  • 1 tbsp coffee liqueur, optional

Method

  1. Chill two serving glasses for 5 minutes so the ice cream melts slowly.
  2. Brew the espresso or strong coffee and sweeten it only if desired.
  3. Place two scoops of vanilla ice cream in each chilled glass.
  4. Pour the hot coffee over the ice cream just before serving.
  5. Top with whipped cream if using, finish with shaved chocolate or cocoa, and serve immediately.
